Dr. Dick Voigtel and Kim Wells
|
Teacher of the Year
Kim Wells has been teaching high school for 29 years, all but six of them at NHS. She was a graduate teaching assistant at SFA while working on her masters and then decided to make teaching her career. A wonderful mentor professor taught her things she still uses in the classroom today. Mrs. Wells retired from NHS this year. She looks forward to returning to SFA next fall to teach two classes in the Modern Languages Department, but will miss NHS and the great friends she made over the years. “I have always considered teaching a privilege and enjoy the creativity and the camaraderie that comes with working in a classroom.” Her rewarding and memorable moments all come from watching students succeed in their endeavors. But the laughter is what she will remember the most. In addition to teaching at SFA, she looks forward to spending more time with her immediate and extended family and with her dogs. “We enjoy boating and traveling together. Yes, even the dogs enjoy the boat.” She also looks forward to spending more time with friends and reading books “without analyzing them." NHS will miss her.
